Implement Stricter Dress Code Standards at Public Pools
My 4-year-old son turned to me at our local council-owned pool one day and innocently said, "that lady forgot to wear her clothes." Right there, in the toddler and baby pools, a woman was wearing a g-string bikini. As a parent of young children, including an 18-month-old baby, I was taken aback - not only by the overexposure but also by the underlying societal bias that allows this while other forms of exposure, such as a man showing his testicles, would be treated as indecent.
Public pools, especially those that are funded by our property rates and maintained by our local council, should serve as family-friendly environments. They are not places for people to strut less-than-appropriate swimwear. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, one in three waterborne disease outbreaks occur at treated venues like public pools (source: CDC). Appropriate dress codes can deter the spread of waterborne diseases - notably those transmitted through fecal matter.
It is not only about the health concerns but also about instilling decent societal and aesthetic norms to our young and impressionable children. Therefore, I am compelled to call for stricter dress code standards at our local council-run public pools. This is about reinforcing social appropriateness, securing family-oriented ambiances, promoting health safety, and above all, protecting our children's innocence. We owe it to our children to have adequate swimsuit regulations in place.

Mandate Full Financial Transparency for Charitable Trusts in New Zealand
As a long-time contributor to my local church and its charitable initiatives, I have discovered what appears to be a misuse of these funds and a lack of transparency. I believe all charitable trusts in New Zealand, particularly those dealing with more than $30,000 annually, must submit standardized and transparent profit and loss reports.
In my experience, I realized that the church I trusted and donated to for years was not utilizing the funds as they promised. I found blank forms being submitted in place of actual documents on their public charity services website. A practice that raises significant concerns about accountability and the appropriate usage of donations.
Full financial disclosures are critical to maintaining the integrity and credibility of charitable organizations. Transparency fosters trust and ensures that donations are used for the intended purposes. It's disheartening to discover that existing legislative requirements aren't stringent enough to prevent organizations from covertly deviating from their professed objectives.
An annual report detailing the profit and loss statement, if mandated by the Charities Trust NZ for public record, would facilitate increased accountability and aid in identifying suspicious activities. This report should be a requirement for organizations handling finances beyond a stipulated minimum, fostering a culture of transparency and responsible stewardship.
I urge you to take action and demand that law enforcement agencies require charitable trusts in New Zealand to disclose their full financials in a perceptible manner. Every dollar contributed to these organizations should go towards the cause it was hoped to support. We owe it to ourselves and our community to ensure that charitable work is conducted with integrity and transparency. Please sign this petition and join the urgent call for full financial transparency..
